Marxists.org is an on-line library of Marxist and leftist literature and articles. The Marxists Internet Archive is an all-volunteer, non-profit public library, established in its present form in 1998. In 2022, MIA averaged 3.3 million visitors per month, downloading 27.5 million files per month. This represents a 79% increase in visitors since 2013.

Each page collects the reports cited for a single organization, providing an ‘open’ link to access that the report. The citation for each report also lists the content of the FRAW site which reference that work, with links directly to the paragraph citing the report. This listing uses the same format as the FRAW Subject Index – and a complete table of the abbreviations used in the listing can be found on the main index page.

Useful Work versus Useless Toil

Written by William Morris in 1888, this essay outlines how society reduces people to mere ‘occupiers’ of time in toil. The article shows that – 130 years before modern-day writers came up with the concept of “bullshit jobs” – people were observing and writing about much the same thing.
