Date publishedMarch 2013
Summary text/ abstractResearch by the World Development Movement has revealed that one third of ministers in the UK government are linked to the finance and energy companies driving climate change. This energy-finance complex at the heart of government is allowing fossil fuel companies to push the planet to the brink of climate catastrophe, risking millions of lives, especially in the world's poorest countries. Government figures embroiled in the nexus of money and power fuelling climate change include William Hague, George Osborne, Michael Gove, Oliver Letwin, Vince Cable and even David Cameron himself. If we are to move away from a high carbon economy, the government must break this nexus and regulate the finance sector's investment in fossil fuel energy.
