Summary text/ abstractI am a researcher in artificial intelligence, and I live in a tree. To be more precise, a treesit, where a motley band of poets, primitivists, hippies, and anarchists are making the last stand to save a beautiful Caledonian glen from being bulldozed to make yet another road. This is a paradox at its heart: for artificial intelligence seems diametrically opposed to the natural intelligence embodied by living ecosystems. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the ultimate technologizing project: To recreate human intelligence in the digital image of the computer, AI and technology in general seems to be at odds with any attempts to preserve nature and humanity.
