'Work in Progress': The FRAW Site Redesign
After much hassle and engaged discussion it's clear that the mish-mash of historic information and conflicting structures can't continue so we've decided to wipe the site and start again. For more information on what's currently going on, click here

Beyond Climate
How Energy and Resource
Use Influence Climate Change
7.30 pm,
St. Illogs Community Hall, Hirnant, Friday 9th July 2010
The general debate on climate change focusses on industry and power stations,
and the gases they emit. In fact the situation is far more complex
agriculture, land use change and the way our modern economy uses resources
are equally significant in how we can address both the causes of climate
change, and also how we will be able to adapt to the changes in global weather
patterns in the future. Rather than try and control carbon emissions through
technological 'end of pipe' solutions such as carbon capture, this presentation
argues that from laptops to lambs, televisions to transport the
interaction of resource depletion and climate change will require a far more
systematic adaptation of the economy and individual consumption to address the
climate problem.

Low Impact Living Weekend
Learning resilence from 'The Great Outdoors'
24th/25th
July, Karuna, Picklescott, Shropshire
In a world where we desire certainty to live a comfortable life the fact that
the world is becoming more uncertain is creating tension, in our own lives,
and in society generally. From the financial markets, to climate change, to
resource depletion, today we face a complex web of inter-related problems
that, as individuals, it's not possible to solve. Rather than try and beat our
heads against the brick wall of impossibility perhaps we should think
laterally and instead look to improve that part of the problem which we do
have the power to change... ourselves. And in particular, our ability to meet
these problems with a greater resilience that we develop from improving our
skills and confidence to look after ourselves in more challenging
circumstances. And what, for most people, is the simplest and cheapest way of
doing this... we go camping!
