"No Bill Inside"

Escape the Micro$oft hegemoney!!

September 2006: "And so it begins...."

The future of your computer is at stake! Digital rights management is beginning to affect how we are able to use our computers, and one event marks the accelleration of this trend more than any other – the release of Micro$oft's Vista operating system.

The launch of Vista is only a few months away. One the main reasons for the electrohippie collective's "return" from their un-collective walkabout is the significance of what Vista means for the digital environment.

Over the coming months the electrohippies will evolve a campaign against Micro$oft's model for the development of our computer desktops in the future, and we will highlight our primary solution – free and open source software (FOSS). This is also the reason why, as part of our new campaign, we have struck up a new working relationship with the Free Range Network, and in particularly their Salvage Server and Community-Linux Training Centre projects. Together we can provide both the means to highlight the problems generated by Micro$oft, and the practical solutions to these problems.

In order to get the ball rolling early we've developed the Browser Alert tool – which we hope people will install within their own web sites. Once we have a means of alerting people browsing online that they are using non-free tools then we can begin the conscious resistance against Micro$oft hegemonic hold over the world's desktop computer systems.
