online action!

A directory of online actions and protests.

As part of its work promoting online action, the electrohippies get a lot of email about proposed or live actions mounted via electronic networks. For this reason we've decided to put together a page of current and proposed online actions in order to encourage networking and mutual support. If you've got an online action that you're considering, get in touch with us (details at the foots of the page).

Current Actions:
  • The Nuclear Pledge
    Take the pledge against a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK – sign up to the pledge and find out a lot more about the proposed ressurrection of nuclear energy in the UK.

Proposed Actions:
  • None listed at present

Getting in touch about online actions

the electrohippie collective doesn't have the capacity to answer each and every request to help organise online protests – that's not what we were set up for. We look at the options to develop new online action tools so that people can set up their own action events within their own "online presence" (i.e., we're only here to help where we can, but not to run the whole show!).

This online guide/index of actions is divided into two categories:

  • Current Actions – these are events that are "live" and are ready for the general public to participate in; and

  • Proposed Actions – these are events that people are proposing to develop, but are looking for active participation and input from other groups or web sites.

We're happy to accept reports within either of these two categories, and (for proposed actions) if we think that we can help we might get in touch with you with some tools or idea of our own (perhaps even some new ones that are still under development).

If you'd like to send us a report you can email the information (plain text only – attachments not accepted!) to ehippies@fraw.org.uk. For inclusion on this page we need the following details (not all this information will/might be published online unless you say otherwise):

  1. Your name/the title of your organisation, and an email address where you can be contatced;

  2. Details of the web site where the action can be joined;

  3. A brief description (100 words) of the action, the intended targetm and your "reasoned justification" as to why the action is necessary/important;

  4. Additionally, for proposed actions, details of the support/help you need from the online community to develop your idea for an action.

Please note that, due to our linguistic inadequacies, submissions can only be accepted in English.
